VoIP calls are recently only enabled through Wi-Fi network and could only be established through iPhone the only manufacturer that allowed to offer its Wi-Fi connection to users whenever they need to make VoIP calls.

Regarding to 3G network that has been spreading in most places all over the world, in the matter of fact certain rule remain restrict the VoIP calls through this network. It means that users have found the impossibility to use 3G network for VoIP calls due to the AT&T’s regulation.

This restriction, however, has been loosened by AT&T but still users must put extra application in their iPhone.

Apple stated through its iCall CEO that regarding to this new change of regulation toward the VoIP calls through 3G network, iPhone will provide application to hold free call and ad-supported call before deciding to register to the payable account. This new change may bring smoother way in communication and offer the availability of alternatives to carry on VoIP calls through 3G network whenever Wi-Fi connection is unavailable.

Fringland, an Israel-based company, has now enabled the video and audio calls not only through Wi-Fi but also over 3G networks. By installing Fring iPhone application, users will automatically take the benefit for VoIP calls with the existing 3G networks. Furthermore, another important announcement is delivered by a spokesperson form Skype, a popular VoIP provider. It is stated that the provider has provided an application that enable the VoIP calls thorugh 3G networks. However, the launching will be waiting confirmation from Apple to ensure if it is allowed for their products.

The spreading information about 3G-enabled VoIP calls is expected not only a rumor, but Apple hasn’t make any official announcement about this. For users mostly, if this new change proves to be true, the euphoria of enjoying a valuable addition of connection in communication would find its best moment. (fallen)
